KINGSTON, Thomas ARWA* PDF Print E-mail
A painter of considerable ability in water colour and oils. He was a bachelor living in Kingston Road Studio with his brother W. P. Kingston. He was one of the Founder Members at the inaugural meeting of 1904 and he became a very staunch Savage. Tall, slim in build and clean shaven he soon became a very popular member. Quiet with a friendly smile, he was retiring in the extreme and probably for this reason he never became President. Most popular in the Wigwam and in Committee where any suggestions he put forward were always practicable. He was an Associate Member of the RWA. Particularly fond of the English countryside and old English gardens. We possess 25 of his Evening Sketches. In 1928 he had a severe bout of influenza from which he never seemed to recover and 1929 he failed to survive an operation for appendicitis. He is buried in Long Ashton Churchyard. (Cecil Broome)
