As a young artist, he apparently showed considerable promise and soon came to the notice of the Tribe, and in December 1924 he was invited to pay a visit to the Wigwam. Presumably he spent a short period of probation with the Tribe, for he was elected a full member in 1926 when a great future was predicted for him. In the following summer, 1927, he was killed while motorcycling in Cornwall, probably on a painting excursion. This must have been a great loss to the Tribe who were then trying to attract younger members to maintain their strength, as he was present at an Artists` Meeting in March 1927. It seems that he was intended to use his talents on the administrative side as well. In accordance with Savage custom, three of his pictures were included in their next Exhibition for the benefit of his family.
